Death Note - Episode 2

As always happens, when you need something – it disappears. This happened to my internet connection – provider explained it as an “upgrade”, but until this “upgrade” ends, my connection is about 12 kb/s at best… So seems that again, I am last who is going to write his reviews. Heh… And what’s worse – the first thing that at last finished downloading is Death Note – Show that is reviewed almost by everyone. So, you understand how I feel, right? :).
But first or last, I am going to do it anyway, because seems that I am beginning to like this somehow strange series… (I like strange girls. ©).

What are you doing, ha?He needs a girl. No, not this girl. it's reserved for me.Random Policeman A.L-sama's logo. Big one.Devi's Eyes...

Burn, baby, BURN!!! (c)Kira, kill my teacher...Do not believe your eyes.Paper is expensive. Paper in death note - even more.L... Scary -_-.So, betting shop is open now!

Ordinary day. Ordinary school. Ordinary lesson. Ordinary top student answering teacher’s ordinary idiotic question… A bored Shinigami sitting at this student’s desk just can’t fit in… Literally can’t fit in. But at last, lessons are over & everyone goes home. Some student’s try to invite Light somewhere, but he refuses saying that he is busy. Of course he is busy, he has to fill in the Death Note and he can’t waste time, because, as he explains to apple-eating Ryuk, he can “work” with Death Note only for a limited time – from time he comes home from school, till time when he has to go to sleep, and he also has to study well (poor guy, he is working so hard, I’m going to cry…). Just when he goes onto a touching & pathetic speech about “pure word” he is interrupted by his sister Sayu who asks him to help her with her homework. Which part of it? M… All. Seeing how Light puts Death Note in the drawer, Ryuk warns him, that if anyone touches it – he will be able to see him. Heh, timely notice.

Meanwhile, people in the ICPO are a bit worried about this strange “hear attacks” among criminals. 52 in only one week is not few, you know. As always in such situations, after trying to blame each other they decide to ask someone “L” to help them. As explained shortly after, “L” is a mysterious investigator, whose real name, face or whereabouts are unknown, but he can solve any case, despite of it’s difficultness. (Hey, why police is so sure that “L” is not guilty for all cases that he “solved”? Well, it’s not quite my problem…) As they are thinking how to contact a guy whose address (face, name…) they do not know, “L”’s emissary Watary (whose real identity is also unknown btw) comes into the meeting room and tells them hot & happy news – “L” has already begun investigating this case. He asks everyone to shut up (his word are more polite than this, but meaning is the same) and opens a notebook with an “L” inside. OK, not really inside, but we at least can hear his voce. And he has much to say, so let’s switch to our “friend”, Light for now…

Light is acting like he has just finished reading “The Anarchist Cookbook” – he is making something that can flare very brightly and I will not be surprised if it can explode… He motivates his experiments by saying that he has to protect his Death Note, because if someone finds it, he may be forced to kill his own family (What a kind guy, he cares about his kawaii imouto so much. I’m touched…)

Back to the ICPO meeting. “L” asks all agencies for cooperation, and especially Japanese branch – he is almost sure that culprit is Japanese, or at least lives in Japan. On the natural question of why he thinks so, he answers that he will soon show then a direct confrontation with the culprit… (He sound so cool…)

BTW, while “L” was playing the oracle, our old friend Light has finished his “Anti-Death-Note-Finding System-kun” and proudly demonstrates it to Ryuk. Well, he has some brains – he hides this dangerous black note book with words “Death Note” on a cover in his drawer, under the false bottom. The bottom can be only lifted from below using ball-pen cartridge – You must put it in the hole to break an electric circuit & safely lift the false bottom. If you do not do it and lift it some other way, the book will be burned to ashes by gasoline. Ryuk comments, that this device is “a bit” dangerous to Light himself, but Light answers, that compared to other things, something like this does not even enter the realm of dangerous (I can somehow agree, but…).

As always happens in this situations, (LOL, I really like this phrase :) ) Light already has a large amount of fans, who call him Kira (No, not THAT Kira, thanks god…This is just a Japanese reading or word “killer”. How cute.) & have a whole website with a BBS dedicated personally to this “hero”. And what to you think everybody asks him? Of course – “Kill, Crash & Destroy!” Well, just kill at least… Light explains to Ryuk, that on the public people always act innocent & politically correct, but on the Net, when they thin they are anonymous they can express their true feelings. And just as he says that everything is going according to his plan, another plan comes in motion – Murphy’s Law. TV broadcast is interrupted by special report and we see… We see a man introducing himself as “L”, Lind. L. Tailor, and addressing Light telling him that his actions are the biggest crime and that he, “L”, is going to catch him. Upon hearing this, Kira…I mean Light goes nuts & saying something about “New World” and “God” (Do not listen to such a people, never. Please :)) writes down “L”’s name in the Death Note. As expected, man shown on TV dies by heart attack, but to “God Light’s” great surprise we hear voce of a real “L”, who says that he could not believe that Kira can kill people only by seen them, but now he confirmed this by sacrificing a criminal who was scheduled to be executed today. A criminal whose capture was not reported on TV & Internet, so seems that Kira can kill only people who he knows about. “L” invites Kira to kill him, but of course, Light can’t do it (But according to his face, really wants to), so “L” concludes that for some reason there are people that Kira can’t kill and informs Light, that he knows his approximately location – it’s Kantou, Japan. He found this out by announcing worldwide broadcast but showing his “show” only in Kantou, because he was suspicious that Kira’s first victim was Sinjuku street slasher (Remember, that guy Light tested Death Note on? At least he was somehow useful). “L” promises to catch Kira and broadcast ends. Light seems to be enthusiastic and on a split screen Light & “L” promise to “find and do away” each other. Ryuk once more comments that human are amusing (Thanks, but we already knew this).

Impression: I liked this episode. Really. “L”’s appearance was quite good. His TV show was really something… But Light surprised me once again - so primitively hiding his Death Note… It’s not a good thing. Anyone can crack this defense in less than 5 minutes. I thought he would invent something more interesting… But it is his problem – if he thinks it’s enough, than…
Oh, almost forgot - his sister is cute =^_^=.

I’m expecting much from him - everyone tells me that he is genius :). But untill now he acts calm but somehow improvidently. Name variations in first episode, Book hiding & “killing” L in second… Well, at least now he looks more motivated, I hope he will do something realy cool :P.

he and L are on equal grounds, which is why they are rivals. As L is supposedly the greatest detective on the planet, what does that maked Light?

I don’t think L is equal to Light. Light can be much more powerful ans besides as soon asa Light finds his real name he can kill L. I Love this show

    P.S. does anyone watch Inuyasha
